Thankyou for posting these lovely photos. I was born at Highfield Maternity Hospital, lived in Grosvenor Road until I emigrated to Australia with my parents in 1960, I was 3 1/2 at the time. I still have an Aunt living on the Wirral. It is amazing to be able to see a place that I still regard as home. I still live in Australia but hope to return for a visit one day. Thankyou once again, Gaye.

These buses helped spell the end for the Crosville depot at Love Lane, as the drivers refused to take buses out that had no power steering.

Don't know if you remember Chris, but my dad was a captain on the Ferries, and was VERY happy to see the old girl on your site - nice one!

I certainly do remember your Dad being Captain and many a sunday summer afternoon was spent seeing the parts that the tourists don't see.

I can remember going to school on this one! Did it used to be based at Prince Alfred Road? Some times I would abuse my school pass and just travel around... had to suss the driver out first though cos some where miserable sods! After spending 10 years driving at Chester City, Crosville Runcorn and Halton Transport I soon realised it it wasnt the drivers it was the bloody school kids!

Indeed, I can still hear the sound of them whistling along!! This was in the display cabinet, I have never seen one before, it seemed to be some kind of badge. I will have to see if I can photograph it better. 4001-4008 in Blue and Cream!

When was this taken? I drove this when it was a Div Spare way back in 1994/5.Is it for preservation?
[#8843003] 2009-07-10 00:58:29 Left by M28371M (#0) Reply
It was taken a couple of weeks back. It was in a sort of preservation .... it has recently been on e-bay, might be on there right now!, but as far as I know, failed to sell.
